Sometimes a situation comes up which makes you hopeful that you will be able to get your ex back.

Maybe your ex has started to pay a lot of attention to you, or is flirting with you again. However, before you get your hopes up you need to take stock of the situation and see whether or not it is likely your ex really wants you back.

Showing a bit of interest in you and being a bit nicer to you is a common sign that your ex might want you back. However, you want to be sure to protect yourself from getting hurt again. Don't agree to everything right away and try to rush back into the way things were. If you seem too easy to get, your ex might lose interest again.

Proceed with Caution

It is always best to go slowly rather than trying to hurry things along quickly. The fact that your ex seems to be interested again is probably at least partly due to the fact that you weren't available for a while. You don't want to shower your ex with attention and accidentally end up pushing your him or her away.

It is really only natural that you and your ex will miss each other to some extent after a breakup. This is especially true if you had been involved for a longer time, as over the months and years you would have gotten used to being together a lot. The longer the relationship was the more likely this is to happen.

Just because your ex is missing you does not necessarily mean you are destined get your ex back. However, it is a promising sign. Just keep in mind that there are probably a lot of things going through the mind of your ex, not all of them necessarily positive. Hopefully the good memories will outweigh the bad memories so that your ex will be willing to give things another try.

Make Sure Your Ex Isn't Just Playing Games with You

Sometimes you ex will want to get your attention and see if you still care for them, and this is the reason why they start to show interest again. They might just be playing a game and not be at all interested in renewing your relationship, so take care. Just because they are showing interest, does not mean you are going to get your ex back.

The worst case scenario would be an ex who wants to get revenge and decides to toy with your affections just to get it. Another common situation is an ex who wants some help passing the time until he finds someone new and just uses you to keep from getting bored.

They might also be paying attention to you out of boredom or because they haven't met anyone new yet. Some people just don't like to be alone and are not considerate enough to think of the feelings of others when they use people just to fill their time.

By playing hard to get you can give yourself the time you need to truly analyze the situation and figure out whether or not your ex really wants you back or is just playing games. This will help to keep you from building your hopes too high or getting hurt unnecessarily.
