There are several reasons for why couples are now opting for much smaller weddings rather than big and lavish ones. The biggest problem with a large wedding is the cost and often couples find themselves still paying for it long after it has taken place.
For many years now because of celebrity weddings being shown on TV, elaborate and expensive ones have proved to be very popular. Yet now people are starting to see the smaller wedding as being more acceptable and are coming back into vogue. For those who are looking for a wedding that is more intimate and personal then this is the best type of wedding for them.
But although your wedding may be small it does not mean it has to be informal, simple or cheap. Certainly a small wedding will not be as expensive as a large wedding because guest's numbers are much less but you can still make it lavish if you want.
When it comes to a small wedding in fact we are referring to the number of guests that have been invited and will be attending this event. Normally with such weddings the bride and groom will only invite a few very close relatives and friends to celebrate this very important day in their lives.
As the guest numbers for this kind of wedding are much less then the couple getting married can focus more of their energies into those parts of their special day that they feel are the most important, the wedding ceremony for example. Also sometimes because they only invite a limited number of people to the event they are not restricted to having it where they live but can choose to get married somewhere completely different.
Certainly more and more people who choose a small wedding have a much larger selection of destinations where this happy event can take place. Along with the Caribbean many couples are choosing some unique places for their weddings to take place in. Some couples go for the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas whilst others have had theirs at an old castle or at a mountain lodge.
If you really want to be saving money on your wedding day and have it at home instead there are certain things one can do to save on the costs. The majority of costs for a wedding are taken up by the reception because in many cases a couple will hire a room or hold it in a hotel. But instead to save money why not arrange for the reception to be held at a family member's home or at a restaurant that the bride and groom like.
Small weddings can be as simple or as elaborate as the couple getting married want them to be. But what kind of small wedding they choose will depend on how much they are willing to spend on it. What they should remember however is that at the end of the day this is their special event and should be one that they and their guests will enjoy and remember with fondest in the future.
