February 14th is a special day for lovers - Valenitine's Day. The are mulitiple different varieties of flowers available to convey any type of messsage you wnat to yor significant other. Traditionally Valetine's Day cards and gifts are given to lovers on Valentine's Day. The red rose, long seen as symobol of passionate love is one of the most commonly purchased gifts for Valentine's Day. Scented lilies and exotic orchids are two of the newer floral options available for Valentine's Day.
The Rose - The Traditional Valentine's Day Flower
Many ancient Greeks, Egyptians, and Romans began using the rose as a symbol for differnt emotions; red for love, pink or yellow for friendship, and white for peace. Even Cleopatra used rose petals to demonstrate her love to Mark Anthony. The Empress of France, Josephine even filled her gardens with beautiful roses.
It was down to the Victorians to look deeper at flowers and how they can express feelings, especially those of love. The size, placement and flowers found in a Victorian bouquet would express specific things, minute details could make all the difference. Such as the difference between a single red rose, and a bouquet of red and white roses.
There are all kinds of roses available:non-climbing and climbing old garden roses, miniature, climbing, bush, and shrub modern garden roses, and wild roses. Pink, red, and white roses are the ones most commonly associated with Valenitine's Day, even though there are many more varieties available. The scent of the rose has long been acknowledged as an aphrodisiac because of its sensual and wam aroma.
Orchid: The Most Alluring Of Valentines Day Flowers
Orchids are an incredibly alluring flower. You will find orchids all around the world, they can thrive in the mountains as well as the coast. There are approximately 25,000 types of orchid. The variety of orchid changes the scent they produce, they have a strong fragrance that can range from fruity to spicy. Greenhouses are a great place to grow orchids because they need continual moisture and heat. Red, pink, yellow and even purple are colors orchids can be found in, along with others. Unlike roses orchids are not usually connected with valentines day, however they are such alluring flowers that they convey how you feel perfectly.
Lilies: The Fragrant Valentine's Day Flower
The tiger lily, the oriental lily and the Madonna lily are some types of rare lilies. The most antiquated type of this flower is the Madonna. The Madonna lily was known in long-ago Egyptian and Greek lands. This particular flower is alluring, exciting and a libido-enhancer, despite the fact that it is not a popular flower for Valentine's Day.
No matter what the bud is, people in love appreciate Valentine's Day flowers as much as they appreciate the holiday itself. I personally advise three types, although you should pick out the flower that you think your sweetheart will love above all.
