Tips For Choosing Your Wedding Venue

One of the most important parts of your wedding ceremony is the venue, but there's more to choose from than there used to be. Instead of just getting married in the local church, many couples are opting for different wedding venues, including outdoor weddings, special locations and more.

Informal wedding venues are becoming a lot more popular, with more couples choosing to skip a standard reception in favor of one that's more creative. Along with this trend, themed weddings are growing in popularity. That means that many couples choose a venue that goes with their preferred theme.

Of course, no matter what kind of venue you choose, whether formal or funky, you should ask some of the same questions before you make your reservation. Think about your budget and your preferences, as well as the number of guests a venue can accommodate. Don't forget to ask about amenities, too!

The normal rule of thumb is to spend no more than thirty percent of your wedding budget on your venue. However, some couples choose to spend more, and others far less. Non traditional locations may be less expensive than dedicated reception centers. They may also not be used to hosting weddings, so keep this in mind.

Pay attention to how much you can spend, and set your budget before you select a venue. It might be hard, but it's important to stick to your decision. If you're renting a traditional venue, look for packages that can reduce the cost of your rental.

Venues that don't provide food and drink or entertainment mean that you'll need to factor the cost of those into your budget. Even little things can add up, meaning that it's important to be sure you're ready for the expense.

When deciding on a venue, first narrow down your choices. Do you want an indoor wedding, or one that's outside? If you're planning to be married outdoors, you should also plan to have an alternate indoor wedding venue in case of inclement weather.

Ask yourself if your wedding has a theme. If it does, what sort of venue would be appropriate? Outdoor settings are great for Medieval or Western themed weddings, while interesting local buildings will add flavor to others.

Then, if it's a non traditional venue that you're thinking about, take a look at what's required to use it. Find out if you'll be responsible for cleaning up afterward, or if you'll need to make special arrangements for use. Consider distance, too. Your friends and family members will also have to travel to attend your wedding.

Think about venue size, too. The wedding venue you choose must be able to accommodate the number of people you're planning to invite, without being so large that they feel like marbles in a shoebox. If you're planning to have a DJ or live music, they'll need space for their equipment, and space for dancing will be required, too.

You'll need to do more than just ask your venue manager how many people can be accommodated, of course. You should also find out how the space will be laid out, so that no one is stuck in an inconvenient place for the reception.

Also, be sure to book well in advance once you find your perfect wedding location. Make sure you have a receipt, and be certain that everything is well organized. That'll ensure that there are no problems with the venue, allowing you to concentrate on your special day.
